Mt Cootha

Panoramic views from Mt Cootha

The top of this Brisbane landmark provides excellent panoramic views out over the River City, but to say that this is where its attraction ends would be a gross oversight. Mt Cootha is many things to a wide cross section of people, but the beauty of this natural, green space in the middle of the city is special to them all.

Be at one with nature in the Botanic Gardens located at the bottom of the mountain. Here, cleverly sculpted gardens are a pleasure to stroll through, while the Hide’n’Seek Children’s Trail keeps little legs walking as they search out hidden surprises and learn various facts about the plants they see. There are BBQ areas for a self-catered lunch, free guided walks and a number of themed plant exhibitions for a relaxed and rejuvenating few hours. For a night owls, take a tour through the galaxy in the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium’s Cosmic Skydome, examine asteroids and and of course, gaze up at the stars.

Fitness people will love the challenge of joining other  cyclists on the way up to the summit, or an adrenaline soaked careen for mountain bikers on the way back down. There are also popular bushwalks, some from the bottom all the way to the top with the ice cream shop located at the casual Kuta Café an excellent way to entice the kids up the mountain.

Also located at the top of Mt Coot-tha is the Summit Restaurant, where high end dining and spectacular views come together for an unforgettable dining experience. This is also a popular proposal location if you have a certain question in mind for a certain someone!

Located just over 20 minutes from Gabba Central Apartments, Mt Coot-tha is easily accessible through the western suburbs.
