Enjoy a stroll through the Brisbane City Botanical Gardens

Set on a tight bend in the river, the Brisbane City Botanical Gardens offer a soothing respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, a peaceful place to while away an hour or two before you return to Gabba Central Apartments for more rest and rejuvenation. As the Brisbane’s original botanic gardens, there are many attractions for green thumbs to peruse over, as well as some for those not particularly concerned with the latin names of the 23 different species featured in the Bamboo Garden.

For children, there is an all abilities playground, designed to wear out little legs and stimulate inquiring minds. For the fitness obsessed (or just mildly interested) amongst us, the Riverwalk sits at the downstream end of the gardens, providing a brand new two-way separated cyclist and pedestrian pathway running from the gardens and along the river over the water. And for those with more cultural pursuits in mind, from heavy metal bands to symphony orchestras and everything in between, the Riverstage is a spectacular setting for concerts under the stars.

But for those just needing a little time to gather their thoughts, the Weeping Fig Avenue is the perfect place for a romantic stroll, the Ornamental Ponds are soothing and surrounded with green foliage while a number of fountains and sculptures are peppered throughout. Perhaps grab a little lunch from Queen St Mall and make your way down to one of the expansive lawns for a quiet bite… The Gardens are ideal for feeding the senses with natural surrounds in the city.
